Abstract
Novelty: Novel antiviral compounds useful for preventing and treating infections caused by a variety of DNA viruses, RNA viruses and retroviruses are disclosed.
Biology: The pharmacological efficacy of the compounds were tested in vitro and in vivo for HSV-I activity and cytotoxicity. The results are presented in five tables. The compounds have strong activities and low toxicities.
Chemistry: Preparation of the antiviral agents are described in four examples. 1 -Phenylpiper-azine is one of twenty-three specifically claimed compounds.
