Abstract

Patent W09503065 describes a new peptide - Margatoxin - isolated from the venom of the scorpion Centruroides maearitatus, which shows a high affinity and selectivity for binding to a voltage-dependent potassium channel - the Kv 1.3 or n type (for prevalence in normal human T-cells) potassium channel. A method for the production of recombinant Margatoxin in E. coli is given.
