Abstract
Research and development of new antifungal therapeutics continues to be stimulated by significant and growing medical needs as well as by profits generated from currently approved drugs. This review covers the patent literature regarding antifungal therapeutics from November 1994 to June 1995. During this period, the largest group of antifungal patents, once again, are those that describe new triazoles; the second largest group are those that describe new formulations for existing triazoles. Included in this review are recent filings on natural products and semi-synthetic derivatives of aureo-basidin A, echinocandin B, pradimicins, deoxyaquayamycin, cepacidine A, MK8062 and mevalotin. Also included are recent filings on several triazoles, diaminopropanoic acids, aryloxythiadiaxolones and dithiins.
