Pages 681-682 | Published online: 29 Feb 2008

Abstract

This patent identifies a new class of 5′ reductase enzyme inhibitor. 5′ reductase is responsible for the metabolism of testosterone to provide a biologically active, potent 5′ dihydrotestosterone (5′ DHT). The compounds covered by this invention are diazo-phenanthrenone derivatives (containing active groups such as dialkylamido and alkylene nitrile) which are capable of regulating DHT concentrations in mammals.
