Nucleic acid and amino acid sequences relating to Helicobacter pylori for diagnosis and therapeutics

Pages 1493-1495 | Published online: 25 Feb 2005

Abstract

This patent describes 114 DNA sequences obtained from Helicobacter pylori and the amino acid sequences that they encode. Multiple uses for the DNA and the peptides are described. No new methods are introduced, the patent allows for the manipulation of the cloned sequences and their peptides to produce agents for use in diagnosis and therapy of H. pylori disease. Additionally, methods for effective immunisation, including therapeutic immunisation are described. In the exemplification, mice are protected from H. pylori colonisation of the gut by immunisation with two recombinant peptides.
