Potent and selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors

Abstract

This patent describes a series of 2,4-diaryl-imadazo[1,2-a]pyridine derivatives. These molecules are reported to be potent and selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitors. In cell culture the compounds described in this application possess significant selectivity and potency for COX-2. While no in vivo data are presented, the molecules are described as effective for the treatment of pain, fever and inflammation caused by a number of conditions and diseases.
