Abstract
Claims related to the discovery of new antifungal agents and methods to improve existing marketed drugs dominate the patent literature dating from June 1995 to June 1997. The bulk of this review deals with entries that involve the synthesis and evaluation of new compounds and novel analogues of known classes of antifungals. Coverage related to the development of combination therapies and the use of formulation vehicles to improve the physicochemical properties, pharmacokinetics and toxicity profiles associated with parent compounds is also included.
