Texaphyrin-based chemosensitising agents

Pages 91-93 | Published online: 25 Feb 2005

Abstract

The use of chemotherapy in the treatment of human malignancies has achieved notable successes. These, however, have been few and far between. This patent concentrates on increasing the cytotoxicity of anticancer agents through the use of texaphyrin based chemosensitising agents. Experimentation shows the use of texaphyrins with a number of different cytotoxic agents both in vitro and in vivo. It is also the belief of the authors that these compounds can have multiple therapeutic and diagnostic uses, and that the enhanced solubility will be of considerable importance.
