Pages 597-600 | Published online: 25 Feb 2005

Abstract

This patent application discloses 5-sulfinyl and 5-sulfonyl oxazole derivatives that have interleukin-6 (IL-6) inhibitory activity and selective nitric oxide (NO) production inhibitory activity, inhibiting inducible nitric oxide synthase (NOS) over the constitutive forms. The compounds claimed in this patent would be expected to be useful either prophylactically or therapeutically for the treatment of IL-6- or NO-associated diseases. The most potent compound claimed for IL-6 inhibitory activity is 3, with an IC50 of 0.33 μM. The most potent compound claimed for inhibition of NO production is 2, with an IC50 of 9.8 nM.
