Abstract
Lamellar tearing is a type of weld cracking which occurs in a joint on which a large restraint stress acts in the direction of the plate thickness (hereafter referred to as Z-direction) of a steel plate. The term ‘lamellar tear’ was first used by J E Jubb1, D M Nicholls2 and others of Cranfield University, UK in 1968 and means tearing in a lamellar form.
