Towards a More Liberating Black Liberation Theology

Abstract

This article explores the appropriation of anger in Black theology. It argues that Black liberation theologians construct theology out of their anger over perceived injustices in society. However, they have failed to correctly appropriate their anger by naming it and developing constructive outlets for this anger. The Black church can benefit from an explicitly articulated anger. Suggestions are offered for better utility of anger in Black liberation theology.
