Abstract
This article outlines the theological equivalent of the political third way. Politics has recognised the flaws in a first way (state-controlled economy), a second way (free-market liberalism) and the values of a third way whereby the market is run efficiently but there is also a concern for justice and community. The choice in theology is not between either critical rationality or applied contextuality but both brought together with passion for truth and caring for people. This perspective is discussed in the context of training for youth and community work.
