The Known and Possible Role of Minerals in Trout Nutrition and Physiology

Abstract

The known role of minerals in trout nutrition and physiology are discussed. It is pointed out that dissolved minerals in the water play an important part in the normal metabolism of the fish. A knowledge of mineral metabolism in higher animals has resulted in the rearing of more vigorous and healthy animals and the accumulation of such knowledge for fish should provide a sounder basis for both the rearing of hatchery fish and the management of natural waters.
