Abstract
Aerated, rapidly exchanged seawater is needed for holding tanks on board ships, especially for the retention of penaeid prawns in tropical or subtropical climates. A nozzle made out of copper pipe was inserted into an air hose, which, when attached to a deck water hose, supplied a diffused, aerated flow of water through the holding system. This device was adequate for supporting several hundred prawns for up to 10 d in a tropical climate.
