An Improved Portable Surgical Table for the Field and Laboratory

Abstract

I substantially modified a portable surgical table design by Courtois (1981) to increase its durability and utility. The new design incorporated durable plastic components, a nonskid neoprene surgery surface, and surgical tool bins. The system was used to implant fish and amphibians with internal radio tags and was tested with adult largescale suckers Catostomus macrocheilus and bullfrogs Rana catesbeiana. This easy-to-build table may appeal to a diverse group of aquatic researchers.
