Abstract
Light therapy is used widely in the field of dermatology. One modification is the use of photosensitizing medication, along with light therapy; also known as photodynamic therapy. Photodynamic therapy is used primarily for the treatment of cancer but has many indications, including the treatment of photodamaged skin. The following chapter is a review of the available literature for the treatment of photodamaged skin using photodynamic therapy, along with recent advancements in photodynamic therapy for various dermatological indications.
