Abstract

Irritable bowel syndrome is a chronic functional disorder with a complex etiology and multiple overlapping symptoms. Irritable bowel syndrome is characterized by long-lasting abdominal pain or discomfort, abnormal bowel habits and typically inadequate response to many of the available therapies.
