This article refers to:
RETRACTED ARTICLE: Genetic variants linked to T2DM risk in Kurdish populations

Golsheh S, Keshavarzi F. Diabetes Metab Syndr Obes. 2019;12:431–437.

The Editor in Chief and Publisher of Diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome and Obesity: Targets and Therapy wish to retract the published article.

Concerns were raised to the Editor in Chief of the level of similarity between the published article and another article titled IRS1‐ rs10498210 G/A and CCR5‐59029 A/G polymorphisms in patients with type 2 diabetes in Kurdistan by the same authors in Molecular Genetics & Genomic Medicine; https://doi.org/10.1002/mgg3.631.

Following an investigation, it was found the level of similarity between the two articles was unacceptable. It was also found there was an unacceptable level of image manipulation in Figures 1 and 2 of the Diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome and Obesity: Targets and Therapy article and the Editor in Chief determined the conclusions in the study were no longer supported. The corresponding author was unable to provide a satisfactory response regarding the similarity between the two articles or the issues relating to the image manipulation.

Our decision-making was informed by our policy on publishing ethics and integrity and the COPE guidelines on retraction.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as “Retracted”.
