A Response to: Comparison of Psychological Difficulties in Patients with Migraine and Epilepsy Using PARADISE-24 Questionnaire [Letter]

I have read the study of Mirmosayyeb et al entitled “Comparison of Psychological Difficulties in Patients with Migraine and Epilepsy Using PARADISE-24 Questionnaire” with great interest. In this paper, the authors reported their study on comparing psychological difficulties in patients with migraine and those with epilepsy by using the PARADISE-24 questionnaire.¹

This research is very useful in the assessment of psychological difficulties in patients with migraine and epilepsy. I found a few things that need to be written by the author. Firstly, the authors mention that they used the Independent sample t-test and Fisher exact test were used for comparison between quantitative and qualitative variables. However, no results were found from the test. If indeed the test has been carried out, it is necessary to be included in the results section. Comparison with the test will be better than just using the mean ± SD comparison.

In selecting the number of respondents, the authors revealed that the data were gathered from 240 migraineurs and 210 patients with epilepsy. This difference in the number of respondents will certainly lead to gaps in the results of the study. Authors need to explain what is the impact of the different numbers of respondents in each group.

The authors chose migraine and epilepsy as variables to compare. In a previous study in the development of the PARADISE-24 Questionnaire, Cieza et al tested several variables including dementia, stroke, multiple sclerosis (MS), epilepsy, migraine, Parkinson′s Disease (PD), depression, schizophrenia or substance dependency.² The authors need to explain in more detail about the selection of these two variables and need to consider several other variables to be used in the study to be compared.
