Abstract

Abdulhamid I, Usmael N, Shaweno T. Patient Prefer Adherence. 2022;16:2977–2988.

The Editor and Publisher of Patient Preference and Adherence wish to retract the published article. Concerns were raised to the journal that the contributions of the listed authors had been misrepresented and individuals who played key roles in the original study had intentionally been removed from the authorship prior to submission. In addition, it was also found that data from the original study and text from the original manuscript, from which the article was drafted, had been altered, raising significant doubts about the integrity and validity of the reported findings.

The authors were asked to provide an explanation regarding the misrepresentation of authorship and the reason behind the alteration of data and text from the original study and manuscript, respectively. The authors did respond but were unable to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding the concerns that had been raised.

The Editor determined that the findings of the reported study were unreliable and requested for the article to be retracted. The authors were notified and do not agree with this decision.

We have been informed in our decision-making by our policy on publishing ethics and integrity and the COPE guidelines on retractions.

The retracted article will remain online to maintain the scholarly record, but it will be digitally watermarked on each page as “Retracted”.
