Abstract
Ten years ago, the fortieth anniversary of the International Phycological Society (IPS) was marked by an article (Wynne & Woelkerling, 2001, Phycologia 40: 172–181) containing portraits and brief biographical information on colleagues who have served as IPS President during that time. The decision of the IPS Executive Council to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the Society and its journal, Phycologia, with publication of a special supplement resulted in the need to revise the 2001 paper to include new portraits and brief biographical information on IPS Presidents of the past decade and to otherwise update the 2001 paper with minor revisions to the introductory comments, several new portraits, and inclusion of death dates of Presidents who have died since 2001.
