Structure and Reproduction of Farlowia (Rhodophyceae)

Pages 29-37 | Received 29 Jan 1962, Published online: 06 Mar 2019

Abstract

In the two species of Farlowia (Dumontiaceae) which occur on the west coast of North America, the development of female reproductive structures is similar to that previously reported in the Japanese species, F. irregularis. Farlowia resembles Dumontia in the development of female reproductive structures, but its life history differs by the lack of tetrasporophytes.
