The Location Process of Central Place System Within a Circular City

Pages 254-266 | Published online: 09 Jun 2016

Abstract

While traditional central place models have presented the central place system as an equilibrium between retailers and consumers, the model in this paper considers the system as a product of both spatial search and locational choice exercised by the retailers. In particular, this paper analyzes the location process for centers in a circular city by replacing the assumption of uniformity with rules for spatial variation in population and rents.
