Jo-Anne Bichard
Jo-Anne Bichard is a Senior Research Fellow at the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design at the Royal College of Art. The centre has focused on inclusive design since its inception in 1999, working with student designers, academic researchers and industry to promote design that addresses the needs of an ageing population and people with disabilities. Jo-Anne leads the centre's PhD programme. Her background is in social anthropology and she lectures in design ethnography to both designers and social anthropologists. Jo-Anne's research has focused on the inclusive design of public toilet provision that incorporates both the barriers to the physical environment and service delivery.
Rama Gheerawo
Rama Gheerawo is Deputy Director of the Helen Hamlyn Centre for Design at the Royal College of Art and specializes in the knowledge exchange of inclusive design to business. An RCA Innovation Design Engineering graduate, Rama has lead on the centre's Research Associate programme that has focused on training graduate designers from all design disciplines in inclusive design practice. This programme has so far delivered over 120 collaborative projects with companies.
Rama is leader of the Centre's Age & Ability Research Lab looking at improving quality life for people of all ages and abilities. He has written widely for both academic and mainstream publications and has an international reputation as a speaker on inclusive design for audiences including students, academics, designers and business.
