Abstract
Since the Third Plenum of the CCP 11th Central Committee [December 1978], the Center has emphasized on many occasions the need to strengthen the party's ideological and political work in the endeavor to build China into a strong socialist power with a highly developed civilization. In particular we must adhere to the four basic principles - namely, the socialist road, the dictatorship of the people's democracy (i.e., the dictatorship of the proletariat), Marxism-Leninism and Mao Zedong Thought, and the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party. This is an issue of fundamental importance to China's future and destiny. Therefore, continuous improvement and strengthening of the political courses in high school has become a matter of even more importance and urgency.
