Can Friendship Be Fostered Amid Competition?

Pages 43-48 | Published online: 20 Dec 2014

Abstract

[China Youth] Editor's Note: We publish here two high school students' compositions. The question raised in the compositions is worth discussion. One student, Chen Ze, noted: "I wish there would be one day when people no longer compete but get along with each other in friendly affection." Another student, Liu Weiwei, remarked: "Compared with the practice of ‘everyone eating from the same big pot,’ competition is doubtlessly a step forward." "Does competition necessarily affect the relations among schoolmates and friends?"
