Abstract
In the Chinese Communist newspapers, especially the Chinese Communist newspapers of Hong Kong and Macao which are intended primarily for overseas readers, one often sees reports eulogizing the blissful existence of Buddhists on the Chinese mainland. The gist of these reports is usually as follows:
1. How the political status of Buddhists and monks has been raised; how they have participated in the Chinese Communist "Conferences of People's Representatives" and "Political Consultative Conferences" at every level, etc.
