Abstract

During the Tenth Plenum of the Eighth Central Committee in September 1962, just when dark clouds were rolling over the skies of our country, the great leader Chairman Mao proclaimed the fighting slogan of "Never forget class struggle" to the entire Party and the people of the whole country. Chairman Mao pointed out: "The socialist society is a relatively long historical stage. During this historical stage of socialism classes, class contradictions, and class struggle still exist, the struggle between the two roads of socialism and capitalism exists, and the danger of a capitalist restoration exists. One has to recognize the long-term nature and complexity of this kind of struggle. Our vigilance has to be sharpened and a socialist education carried out. The problem of class contradictions and class struggle has to be correctly understood and solved. The contradictions between ourselves and the enemy and the contradictions among the people have to be correctly differentiated and handled. Otherwise this socialist nation of ours will head into the opposite direction; it will degenerate and become reactionary. From now on we have to discuss this question every year, every month, and every day so that we will have a clearer understanding of it and will follow the road of Marxist-Leninism." By defining this basic line of our Party in the entire socialist historical stage, Chairman Mao pointed out clearly the road to continuing the revolution.
