Abstract
I am a young student and serve as secretary to the League branch of our class. A couple of days ago, our branch held a regular session. Some comrades reported that among our classmates are people who shrink back from difficulties. Whenever they come across some difficult exercises, they try to rely on others and even go so far as to copy others' answers. These comrades suggested that the League branch organize all classmates into a study session to discuss the achievements of Chen Jingrun, guiding the class in working hard and striving to conquer scientific strongholds. Some other comrades, however, disagreed. They believed the prevailing trend in the class is for everyone to concern himself with study rather than politics. Some classmates do not want to be cadres; they are unwilling to do social work. Therefore we still have to learn from Lei Feng and follow a path of becoming both red and expert to avoid going astray. A dispute stemmed from the two different views, but neither side could persuade the other. I have been thinking about this problem over the last few days. After consulting a few members of the branch committee, I plan to start a column in the wall newspaper under the title "Whom Should I Emulate?" in order to organize everyone in the class into the discussion. Limited by my theoretical level, I am unable to make things clear and am afraid that we will not reach a conclusion at the end of discussion. Comrade editor: In your view, how should we view this problem?
