An Open Letter to Deng Xiaoping and Others

Abstract

I am sending this letter to you not because you are the major leaders of the Party, the state, and the government but because you are the citizens who have enjoyed the highest prestige and the greatest trust among a population of one billion. When I am preparing to denounce illegal activities to society, the important members of that society — influential and prestigious members — naturally become the individuals whom I most prefer to address. I believe that the people's trust is not without basis, and that prestigious citizens are invariably warriors standing on the front lines protecting society.
