Abstract
Xin and Tian were married in early 1976 and had a child. The two frequently quarreled over routine things of daily life and over economic problems. Xin even beat his wife. For these reasons, in May 1977, Tian went back to her own family, bringing the child with her, with the intention of staying there permanently and not going back to live with her husband.
