Abstract
We are pleased to publish the following article, "Recollections of Chinese-American Cultural Persons: A Sampling," which Dr. Chih Meng read at a meeting of the New England China Seminar at the Harvard Faculty Club on February 18, 1976. Dr. Meng has recorded his observations of and experiences with a number of renowned Western-educated Chinese, such as Hu Shih, Chang Po-ling, Mei I-ch'i, and Chou En-lai. Familiar with both Chinese and American cultures, Dr. Meng is well-known for his role in promoting better cultural understanding, chiefly through his work as an educator, scholar, author, and editor, and as Director of the China Institute in America during the years 1930-1967.
