A Correct Understanding of "Making the Past Serve the Present"

Abstract

To understand and grasp Mao Tse-tung Thought fully and accurately and to use it to guide our work is a demand of Mao Tse-tung Thought itself. Quoting certain words or phrases and sentences without comprehending the essence is diametrically opposed to Mao Tse-tung Thought. In his report "Rectify the Party's Work Style," Chairman Mao criticized Wang Ming for "regarding certain words or phrases in Marxist-Leninist works as a sort of patent panacea which, once acquired, can cure all maladies with the greatest ease."
