"Religious Activities" in Shanxi and Heilongjiang

Abstract

The publication Propaganda Work, put out by the Propaganda Department of the Shanxi Provincial Party Committee, points out the following: "According to reports, some grass-roots cadres in districts where there are relatively high concentrations of Catholics and Protestants in this province do not dare publicize the Party's policies on religion because they know nothing about these policies and are unable to draw the line between proper and improper religious activities; they dare neither to publicize religious freedom and the fact that the state and government protect proper religious activities, nor to regulate improper religious activities.
