Abstract

Since the beginning of this year, the central authorities and journalistic units in all localities have devoted great enthusiasm and considerable space to issuing reports on the exemplary deeds of the outstanding Youth League member Zhang Haidi, which have caused strong repercussions among people all over the country and especially among young boys and girls. Young people everywhere (including in the Hong Kong and Macao districts) as well as people of all circles have already sent more than 30,000 letters to Zhang Haidi. The social effects of this propaganda [drive] are of a magnitude rarely seen in recent years.
