Abstract
Many young people in Europe today ask themselves this question. They know that unemployment may lurk around the corner. To prevent that surely disagreeable status, they must rely on the educational system to give them the basic skills of literacy and numeracy accompanied by a sound introduction to science, technology, the social sciences, and the fine arts, along with guiding them toward a career decision and the requisite training needed. At the same time, young people must depend on industry, commerce, and other employers to open their doors to young learners who need an on-site orientation, practical experience, and eventually an induction into a job or career.
