Laughter as an Equivalent of Epilepsy

Pages 33-38 | Published online: 20 Dec 2014

Abstract

In healthy individuals, the reflex act of laughter is associated with manifestation of the corresponding emotions, adequate in time and degree. Organic brain disorders may result in disturbances in the function of laughter. The nature of the disturbance varies and depends to a considerable degree upon the localization of the cerebral process, as well as upon the changes in neurodynamics accompanying it.
