Pressing Problems Facing the Soviet Legal Profession

Abstract

Initiatives taken by the Central Committee of the CPSU in recent years have resulted in the elaboration and effectuation of very important measures aimed at reinforcing socialist legality, improving the machinery of the procuracy and militia as well as of the courts, reinforcing the protection of citizens' rights, perfecting Soviet legislation, and establishing unity between governmental agencies and the public in the struggle against crime. The Principles of Legislation on the Judiciary of the USSR, the Union and Autonomous Republics, the principles of criminal and civil legislation and procedure, criminal and civil codes of the union republics, and a number of other important legislative acts have been passed.
