Abstract
1. The expansion of international economic contacts and the constant, rapid progress of science and technology lead to the necessity for an ever-increasing exchange of cultural and scientific values. Under these conditions, translation of writings from one language to another assumes the utmost importance. The role of translation is particularly important to the Soviet state since it is a multinational state.
