Abstract

By the thirtieth anniversary of VE Day, the population of the Soviet Union exceeded 254 million. This is approximately 55 million more than before the war. If one considers the enormous direct and indirect demographic results and consequences of the war, we can take pride in the rapid recouping and growth of the population.
