Historical Experience and Current Problems of Participation by Communists in the Governments of Nonsocialist Countries

Pages 3-33 | Published online: 08 Dec 2014

Abstract

"The development of the mass movement of the working class and of all toilers" is of decisive importance in the broad offensive of progressive forces against imperialism throughout the world, which has intensified in the early 1970s on the initiative of the communists. (1) With the exacerbation of the crisis that is deeply invading all aspects of capitalism and that has exposed the incapability of imperialism to adapt itself to the new conditions as well as the inability of the ruling class to guide society, this movement, supported by all progressive forces, in many countries is on the threshold of replacing imperialist governments by anti-imperialist and democratic ones capable of dealing with problems ripe for solution in a way that upholds the people's interests, of satisfying the needs of the people, and of facilitating further development of the world revolutionary process. The intensifying process that is transforming the national liberation movement into a struggle for the social liberation of the peoples of Asia, Latin America, and Africa is also leading to the creation of democratic governments of this kind.
