Abstract
The inculcation in citizens of respect for the law, the broad diffusion of legal culture among the population, and the formation of stable legal convictions are an important aspect of the Party's ideological work and an urgent task of state agencies. It is difficult to hope for success in this vast and complex undertaking unless we consider, and hence study, the characteristics of the legal consciousness of various social groups. The testing method commonly employed in sociological practice is quite suitable for this purpose. It is based on a sequence of questions (with a broad set of possible answer-judgments) that the researcher asks the respondent (orally or with the aid of a questionnaire) with the aim of eliciting certain latent responses.
