Abstract
The published survey of responses received by Voprosy filosofii to articles published in 1982 on contradictions and of some of the discussions of contradictions under socialism in a number of departments, seminars, and institutes is evidence of the considerable interest of philosophers, social scientists, and the general public in this problem and, at the same time, is an indication of the existence of different positions and debatable points of view on some of the questions under examination. Iu. A. Andropov's article "The Teachings of Karl Marx and Certain Questions of Socialist Construction in the USSR," his speeches at the November (1982) and June and December (1983) Plenums of the CPSU Central Committee, and the materials of these plenums are of fundamental significance for in-depth understanding of the problem of contradictions under socialism.
