The Formation of Socialist Counterrevolutionary Criminal Legislation in Cuba (1959-1979)

Pages 81-94 | Published online: 08 Dec 2014

Abstract

In December 1978, Cuba adopted its first socialist criminal code, which took effect on November 1, 1979. The adoption of the Criminal Code was a step on the road to the eradication of the exploiters' legislation and its replacement by a socialist criminal code.1 The code's provisions incorporated the preceding twenty years of experience in the formation of socialist criminal legislation (1959-79).
