Abstract
The policy of accelerating social progress and the attainment of a new qualitative state of Soviet society presuppose the all-around intensification of ideological and theoretical activity. The latter must provide a reliable scientific basis for practical measures aimed at securing the actual reform of socialism and must be a key lever in bringing about positive reforms in the nation. It is possible to cope with such a difficult and important role only if all branches of contemporary Marxist-Leninist social science (including the science of state and law) attain a high level of understanding of reality and are permeated with a truly revolutionary, critical attitude toward existing shortcomings. Acceleration and restructuring presuppose the intensive self-knowledge and self-improvement of the socialist social organism.
