Abstract
What are the characteristic features of the socialist law-governed state? What stands in the road of its creation? These points were discussed by jurists taking part in a Literaturnaia gazeta [Literary Gazette] roundtable on the Theses of the CPSU Central Committee: M. P. Vyshinskii, USSR deputy minister of justice; I.I. Karpets, doctor of juridical sciences and director, All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Problems of Strengthening Legality and Legal Order; O. P. Temushkin, doctor of juridical sciences and department chief, USSR Supreme Court; V. F. Iakovlev, doctor of juridical sciences and director, All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Soviet Legislation; Professor A. M. Iakovlev, doctor of juridical sciences and sector head, Institute of State and Law, USSR Academy of Sciences.
