Abstract
On 20-22 January 1995 a representative Antifascist Forum of the Russian Public was held in Moscow with the participation of eminent scholars, historians, legal experts, sociologists, cultural critics, theologians, and psychologists from our country, Europe, and the United States. The forum took place before the adoption of the famous Decree on Increasing the Struggle Against Right-wing Extremism, and, moreover, before an antifascist congress scheduled for May. Nevertheless, the editors thought it would be useful, without waiting for the proceedings of the forum to be published as a special edition (prepared with the support of the Soros Foundation), to acquaint readers with the presentations made by some of its participants, those who most obviously represented the range of positions that emerged during the discussion.
