Abstract
Events, but more often rumors, swarm around the name of Russian Fourteenth Army Commander Aleksandr Lebed with such kaleidoscopic speed that it is impossible to keep up with them. For instance, you sit and talk with him for an hour or so in his now world-famous office, and during this time the radio will already have broadcast five reports about him. And every time, it is "fresh" information, no more than five minutes old. The man has not even had time to drink a cup of coffee before they have married him off three times, retired him twice, and brought him back as many times. And each time, they cite sources of the highest reliability.
