Pages 66-79 | Published online: 08 Dec 2014

Abstract

A condition of Russia's federative nature is that the constitutions of the federation and of its component republics are both in force at the same time. Point 2 of Article 5 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation states: "The republics (states) have their own constitutions and legislation." The totality of the constitutions in force within the Russian Federation forms a constitutional system.
