New Contours of Russian Fascization

Pages 49-57 | Published online: 08 Dec 2014

Abstract

In July and August 1998 the Anti-Fascist Youth Movement (AYD), a Russian social movement, completed the first part of its program "Civic Struggle": to study and resist nationalism and extremism in Russia's regions. Trips were organized to two areas that were critical from the standpoint of national extremism: namely, Volgograd and Pskov oblasts. The second part of the program will include two of the most problematic territories in southern Russia—Krasnodar Krai and Stavropol Krai. This program will be implemented with the support of the Foundation for a Civil Society.
